Scanning Websites Through a Proxy
Sometimes, a website is only accessoble through a proxy. By default SmartScanner uses no proxy for scans, but you set three different type of proxies in the scan configurations:
- System Proxy
- HTTP Proxy
- SOCKS proxy
System Proxy
If you have set a proxy on your system and you want to use the same configuration in the SmartScanner for scans, choose the System Proxy option.
HTTP Proxy
If you want to use a HTTP proxy, choose the HTTP option and enter the IP address and the port number in the related inputs. If the Proxy requires authentication, enter your username and password. Leave user and password blank if the authentication is not mandatory.
SOCKS proxy (recommended to use)
If you want to use a SOCKS proxy, choose the SOCKS option. SmartScanner supports SOCKS version 5 with both IPV4 and IPV6. After selecting the SOCKS options, you can enter the IP address and the port number in the related inputs. If the Proxy requires a username and passowrd, enter your credentials otherwise leave these fields blank.
